Juliet is growing!

Juliet has started to become a big helper around the house.  She is able to help unload the dishwasher, by handing me the utensils. She has started gathering dirty laundry, but usually doesn't make it to the laundry room.  Sometimes it may end up in the trash can. OOPS! We have to watch that. She likes to help scrub things, especially when Josiah and Jada are scrubbing, and she can help pick up toys now.  The thing she is best at is throwing trash away.
She still isn't saying very many words others would understand, but she tries. She is walking well now, and can point to a few different body parts. Her favorite body part to find is the belly button. She is growing and learning!
Her most favorite thing to do is give hugs.  She is the most cuddly baby I know.  It is the sweetest thing.

Flip Cloth Diapers

Juliet - 15 1/2 months
w/Stay Dry insert
Juliet - 6 weeks, same Flip Cover
w/Infant Stay Dry Insert
One of my favorite cloth diaper covers is the Flip diaper. This system is also known as a hybrid system.  You can use the Flip diaper cover with the Stay Dry insert, the organic cotton insert, disposable insert, or really whatever insert you want. With the Stay Dry insert you can fold it down to make it smaller, but I find it too bulky when I do that. I do have a Flip organic cotton prefold that is nice, but WAY too bulky. I would suggest using that at night, because not only are they extremely absorbent, they are the softest prefold I have come across. I prefer stay dry type diapers vs. cotton. If you don't want synthetic fibers touching your baby's bottom, then you will want to go with the Flip cotton prefold. I have not used the disposable inserts so I can't tell you my opinion on those. Also, just in case anybody is wondering, the smooth side of the Flip Stay Dry Insert goes towards baby.

30 Weeks

I'm in the home stretch.  If the baby comes when I predict, that means I only have 8 and a half weeks left.  It could be sooner than that, seeing how none of my kids have made it past 38 and a half weeks.  I am definitely feeling all the end of pregnancy aches and pains.  The braxton-hicks contractions are getting stronger.  Some are strong enough to make me stop what I am doing until they are over. This week was a little harder than I anticipated in the aches and pains department, but I am hoping for some relief, after I get into the chiropractor.
At this point, the baby should be about 3 pounds and 16 inches.

Jo vs The Helicopter

Jo vs the helicopter
          by Dad

Like his father, Josiah, had the opportunity to sit in one of the PHI helicopters.

Our EMS department had another training with one of the med-flight crews at our home station. While Justin was guiding the helicopter in for a landing in front of the station, Josiah was watching intently from inside the station with the rest of those who came to join our training.
Once the helicopter was safely on the ground and the crew had disembarked the craft, Josiah was allowed to sit in the pilots seat. The pilot even instructed Josiah how to move the controls.
This will be a day Josiah won't soon forget.
We would also like to send a very special Thank You and Happy Thanksgiving to all the PHI crews.

Juliet vs The Puppy

Juliet is usually quite the love bug. When she gives hugs, she means business.

My sister in law and her family came down for Thanksgiving.  With them were two adorable baby Teddy Roosevelt Terriers.  Juliet was in love.  She loved those puppies, almost to death.  She loved them, and hugged them, until they were almost all gone. Thankfully their human mommy came to their rescue, before she could love harm them any more. Needless to say, we will NOT be getting puppies any time soon.

Peek-A-Boo

BOO!

This was the first time leaving Juliet.  Justin and I went to eat breakfast at a restaurant in the next town over.  It was the first time it was just the two of us in well over a year.  It was really nice, and much needed.

They're hard workin' kids

Today Justin was working on splitting and stacking wood.  Josiah and Jada were eager to get outside to help.  Juliet was also excited to help  explore.

I was very proud of Jada for being so persistent in her job.  Her job was to carry and stack kindling.  She stuck with it for quite a while.

Juliet had a good time exploring and sticking things in her mouth.

Josiah kept going long after Jada, Juliet and I came inside.  He rolled the big logs over to Justin, stacked wood, and kindling.  He did all this with such a happy heart. When he came back inside he told me his muscles hurt.

Josiah stacked all this wood by himself

29 Weeks

This pregnancy seems like it is going by the quickest out of all my pregnancies.  I say that now, but I might not feel the same way in a few weeks, when all the pregnancy aches and pains increase. This week has been an OK week. The pins and needles feeling I get in my hands, at the end of my pregnancies, has already started.  It just means I am nearing the end, right?

The other day, I read some old journal entries from when I was pregnant with Juliet.  Oh boy!  When I was around 28 or 29 weeks pregnant with Juliet I was, planting a garden, potty training Jada, and nursing her.  I was also healing up from a sprained back.  WHAT?!  With this pregnancy, it's all I can do just to keep up with my regular duties.  I am not sure where my energy came from then, but I sure could use some now.

It's amazing how strong his movements feel, at just 29 weeks in the womb.
Even with the lack of energy, aches and pains, I feel blessed to be pregnant with this fourth baby.

Jada vs the Counter Top

We had to take Jada back to the chiropractor this week.  She was out in two places again.  He wants to see her again in a month.  However, the other day, Jada pushed the chair up against the counter to get a drink of water, and her foot slipped.  She fell, hit her face on the counter, and her tooth went through her lip. YIKES!  So, we might be getting her back in to the chiropractor before months end.  Poor thing, it seems like all the bad things happen to her.  She is the toughest little girl I know.

How to fold a towel, hotel style

During high school, I worked at a hotel for a few summers. I really liked how they folded their towels.  I am going to show you how this particular hotel folded towels, and how I fold my towels now.
Spread out towel
(Don't worry about the wrinkles)
Fold one side up to the middle

Fold other side on top of first fold

Fold one end to the middle

Fold over again

Behold your fluffy towels!

Fun at the Park

I had to do my one hour glucose test yesterday. During the one hour waiting period we went to the park.  The kids had a wonderful time.  I think their favorite part was the slide.  It was a little chilly, but I don't think they noticed at all.  I was able to take some cute pictures.

Here Comes the Snow!

It started snowing yesterday for the first time this season.  The kids were so excited.  They were bouncing off the walls.  Along with the snow came wind, so we thought it would be too cold and windy for them.  They wore us down.  We got them all bundled and let them go out. They were troopers. They stayed out longer than I thought they would.  The wind was what chased them inside. Josiah said the wind was blowing the snow in his eyes.

It didn't snow much yesterday.  Just a skiff.  Today when we woke up, we had 1 to 2 inches. Oh boy were they excited.  The temperature was in the teens, so we wanted them to wait a bit.  They wore us down again.  Here are some pictures.

28 Weeks

The braxton-hicks contractions are starting to become more frequent.  They are not painful yet, but are uncomfortable. That's exciting because that means we are getting closer to the end.  I am trying to enjoy these last few months of pregnancy. I was also able to get video of Jameson "kicking."

Black Bean Tacos

I found a similar recipe on the label of a bag on onions that I purchased. They were originally suppose to be flautas, but after changing it a bit, I am not sure you can call them that.  They are surprisingly delicious, and healthy.  Even the kids like them.

Coconut oil
1 med onion
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp chili powder
16 oz salsa -divided
1 cup corn
2 -15 oz cans black beans
fresh cilantro
corn tortillas
1 cup water

Saute onions and garlic
Stir in Black beans, Chili powder, and 1 cup water
Simmer until most of the liquid is evaporated
Remove from heat
Stir in 1 cup salsa, cilantro and corn (Sometimes I use a little less salsa)
Set aside
Fry corn tortillas in coconut oil just until they are soft and pliable. (This was my Mother in Law's idea)
Fill with bean mixture top with salsa, guacamole or sour cream

Meet Peanut and Butter

Peanut was my first "baby".  She is a little chihuahua.  Not your typical chihuahua though.  She loves everybody.  If someone broke in she would be excited about it.  I have seen little kids pick her up by the neck, and she just let them.  She loves to be warm,  She would be happy if it was 100 degrees all the time.

Next is Butter our Blue Heeler.  I have to say I never wanted a blue heeler.  Justin really wanted a dog, and one of our friends blue heelers just had puppies.  So we got one.  When we received her, I was pregnant with Jada, and Josiah was a toddler.  It is sad to say, but I really didn't like Butter. It took about a year for me to warm up to her. That being said, she is the best dog.  I am not being biased, well maybe a little.  We never had to teach her not to run away.  She always stayed near the house, unless we all were gone.  Then she would try to come find us.  I have seen her round up the chickens and get them to safety, when she thought danger was near.  When the kids play outside, she watches them like a hawk.  She would give her life for them without a second thought.
Whenever I become pregnant, Butter becomes very clingy.  The closer I get to my due date, the more clingy she gets.  No matter how many times I step on her trying to get out of bed, she still stays right next to me.  She is an irreplaceable dog.

Remember When....

You could sleep anywhere?   Me either.
I was making bread and she was fussy. I was at a point where I couldn't stop.  All the sudden the crying stopped, and I looked behind me and found her fast asleep like this.

Voting or boating

We went to go vote this morning, and Jada thought we were going to go ride on a boat.  Poor thing.  What a disappointment.

Jada goes to the Chiropractor

I was able to get Jada in to the chiropractor yesterday.  She did really well during the whole process.  He worked on three different places on her.  One of the places was on her lower lumbar.  He said it's unusual for a toddlers lumbar to be out so significantly. He wants to see her again next week,  hopefully everything stays in place.  This should help aide in the healing of all her health issues.

27 Weeks

Jameson's movements are becoming stronger, some of the movements are starting to become uncomfortable. I love to feel him move though, it is my favorite part of pregnancy.  Josiah and Jada were able to feel him move this week.  When it was Jada's turn to feel him, he made a huge movement and she shrieked with laughter.

Well, it's like my body knew I was getting ready to start the third trimester. I bent over to load the dishwasher and got a shooting pain through out  my entire upper back. Since then my back has been hurting. Also, the sciatic pain has decided to show up this week, it was just a matter of time.  I am hoping the chiropractor can fix it next week.

I am predicting he will be born January 22, weighing 7 pounds 14 oz. Justin is predicting the 26th, weighing in at 7 pounds 8 oz.
