FuzziBunz Elite vs BumGenius 4.0 Cloth Diaper

FuzziBunz Elite vs BumGenius 4.0

FuzziBunz on top of BumGenius
I really like how trim the FuzziBunz Elite cloth diapers are in between the legs.  However, because they are so trim they are a little more difficult to stuff. Also, I have heard if you have a chunky baby they tend to leak. The FB Elites use a minky insert, unlike the BG 4.0s which uses microfiber.  The FB Elites don't absorb as much as the BumGenius 4.0's. Both cloth diapers are one size. The difference is how you adjust the rise. The BumGenius 4.0s have snaps on the front to adjust the rise. The FuzziBunz Elites have hidden elastic adjustments in the legs and waist to adjust the rise.  It is much easier to adjust the rise on the BumGenius 4.0's.
Overall I like the FuzziBunz Elite cloth diaper, just not as much as the BumGenius 4.0. In my opinion, the BumGenius cloth diaper is a more efficient and dependable cloth diaper.

  1. I love the bumgenius 4.0 out of all that I have tried- love the snaps! Great post.

  2. I'm new to CD, been doing it for 1 week and get minor leaks with BG 4.0. My daughter got a very minor rash when she poo'd and I didn't catch it immediately.
I really want to try FB elite for the trim factor and it seems they might be slightly more breathable. Do you think u Gould start off with one of just get 6 since its a little cheaper to get 6? I just don't want to be disappointed and have 6 diapers that don't work for me.

    1. Hi Sandra! First, how old is your little one? I know when my babies where little, say a few months old, I would get occasional leaking no matter what diaper I used.I completely understand about trying to get a good deal, but not wanting to be stuck with something you won't like. I have to say that FB has modified the FB elite which is not FB Elite+. I have not tried the modified version. I'm not sure that they are going to be much more breathable than the BG really. They are more trim in the crotch area though. That is nice for little babies, not so much as they start to get bigger though. Personally this is what I would do. Kelly's Closet is always having good coupon deals. It changes every few weeks. If you spend so much money you will get a free diaper with your order. I think right now if you spend $74 you are guaranteed to get a free diaper worth more that $17 dollars. (You have to put in the coupon code though) If you wait a week or so it will change to somewhere around $35 dollars, but the free diaper will probably be a Kawii, which I actually like better than some of the other expensive ones. Anyway, that being said what I would do is stock up on a bunch of cloth diaper detergent from kellys closet and get one FB elite+. That way with the coupon you with also get a free diaper with your order. If I loved the FB then I would get the 6 diaper deal. Now if you like selling things on the internet there are lots of places to sell your CDs. So if you did decided to just go with the 6 CD diaper deal, and didn't like them you could always sell them. I hope this helps. If I wasn't clear on anything please let me know. Happy Cloth Diapering! So glad you stopped by!

  3. Oops, I forgot to mention my daughter age, lol! She's 7 1/2 months old and 18-19 lbs. I switched over a little late in the game because most disposables make her whine and cry except for pampers dry. I guess I just realized how much $ I was throwing away and how bad it is for the landfill. Bad mommy :(
Thank you so much for the great advice! I almost bought a 6 pack if FB the new one size 2013 version yesterday but then chickened out at the last minute. I need another 6 ASAP but just wanted to make sure I was making a good decision. I really have no problems with BG 4.0 other than very minor leaks around the front and leg openings but I do find them bulky probably cause I am used to the pampers dry disposables.
Thanks for this awesome blog and fantastic advice!
